Windows 10 Review

Windows 10

Windows 10

The new Windows, Windows 10 (not 9), is a completely revised version of Windows, unlike Windows 8.1

Microsoft released the Technical Preview of Windows 10 yeaterday on their website. The download sizes are mighty big, the 32 bit version being around 3 GB and the 64 bit version being around 4 GB. The download took me about half-an-hour.

The installation was, well, a bit slow and glitchy. It actually failed on me 2 times before I finally got it to work. One peice of advice during the install is to burn the .iso file of Windows 10 on a DVD-R(W) and then run the CD from the BIOS instead from Windows

After going through the quick initial setup, I was presented with the desktop. The biggest change here is the Start Menu is just like it was in Windows 7. There is one exception though. The start menu has the Windows 8 apps on the side of it, but it no longer takes up the whole screen. Instead they are all on the desktop, which is nice. You can now add multiple desktops if your Windows are getting messy. Last but not least, you can snap 4 things at once now. Some things that are bad though is that the mouse pointer have a difficult time responding. I had to click on things 3 times befire it actually responded.

That was my expieirence with the new Windows, download it otday and let me know what you think in the comments below!

Ninite is a Helpful Application for Getting Programs on a New Computer

When you get a new computer, it takes some time to have to download all of the applications that you need. And then when you think you have them all, you realize you forgot something. But this issue can go away with Ninite. It is an application that will install all your applications you want at once. Here’s an example for clarification. I had recently got a new laptop. There were many applications I needed like Chrome, Steam, Skype, WinRAR, Microsoft Security, the list goes on. Instead of going to every site and downloading these one by one, I simply select all the programs I need, click the “Get Installer” button, and it will install all the applications for me. And what makes it even more convenient is that it doesn’t require you to go through the installers, so no having to press ENTER and agreeing to terms and conditions. I’d definitely say that Ninite is worth checking out and you can do so by clicking here.

Android App Review: Paperland Live Wallpaper

Paperland

Paperland

Paperland is a live background for Android devices. As you can see from the picture, the background matches with the conditions outside. It is personally my favorite background. The pros of this app are: the cool paper/cartoon setting, the automatic weather changes, and best of all it’s free. There are a few cons to this application though. One, if you have a bad battery, don’t download. Two, sometimes app shortcuts might not work properly. Other than that, Paperland is a great background and I’d recommend everyone with an Android to try it. Link to app.

Xbox One released (my thoughts)

The long awaited Xbox One released today and I am going to give my thoughts on it.

    What’s inside???

  1. Inside the Xbox One box, there will be the 500 GB jet-black Xbox One system and the brand new Xbox One controller. Alongside with that there is an HDMI cable (“like i don’t have twenty of those lol”), power cord and instruction manuals.
  2. Hardware

  3. The Xbox One’s specs look really good. It features a whopping 8 GBs of ram, a built in hard drive, a blu-ray and dvd drive, usb 3.0 slot, ethernet, and hdmi output/input. The specs of the Xbox One’s are as a good as a mid to high end gaming pc. I’m pretty impressed with it, but specs mean nothing. When it comes to a console being good or bad, it all goes down to the experiences it delivers.
  4. Software

  5. The Xbox One’s dashboard looks just OK to me, nothing great. The dashboard is similiar to the Windows 8 start menu. It has an extensive amount of entertainment applications to download at launch. These include Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video etc… A full list of all the apps can be found here.
  6. Xbox One Controller

  7. The Xbox One Controller controller has many improvements from the Xbox 360 Controller. The circle pads have better grip, the triggers are greatly improved. The cons are though the d pad has not been improved at all. This makes it hard to play 2d platformers.
  8. Games

  9. After looking at the list of Xbox One games that are going to come out, all I can say is that there is going to be something for evreyone. But if there is one genre that the Xbox One ecceds in is shooters. You can see a full list of PS4 games here.
