HUGE NEWS|Microsoft Hololens

Microsoft today held a HUGE event covering from things about Windows 10, Xbox, Windows Phone, and Cortana, but it all was nothing to Microsoft’s unveil of Hololens. Hololens is something completely else. It moves you beyond the screen. It is a goggle that you put around your eyes which allow you to see holograms of apps, TV, objects, games and many other things. To see what I mean, watch the video by Microsoft by clicking here

THIS IS HUGE! This excitement is on a whole nother level compared to the excitement I had for Google Glass. Though is it just me but would it seem kind of weird to other people if you were walking around with huge black goggles around everywhere? I’m sure this is simply a prototype and the design will become simpler as the years go on. But once again, WOW this is like Back to the Future became real. I’m going to make a better post about this soon as I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. But in the meanwhile, be sure to check out Microsoft’s site http://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-hololens/en-us?ocid=MSCOM_HoloLensGlobe

Woah, I mean just… woah.

How to get iOS 8 on your iDevice early for free

If you have been following Apple’s news recently, then you probably know about iOS 8. In my opinion, the new features are nice touches to features already introduced in iOS 7. There is a way to get the new iOS early if you’re to eager like me to try all the new features. Simply follow these steps, but remember, do at your own risk, as there is a 50% chance that your device will not work after performing these steps.

If your iDevice is jailbroken, do these steps first. If not, then skip.

  1. Go to getios.com and download the latest iOS for your device
  2. Save it to your desktop
  3. Connect device to iTunes
  4. Hold shift and click on “Restore” and select the iOS on your desktop

Once you’ve done that, follow these steps for iOS 8.

  1. Go to getios.com and download iOS 8 for your device
  2. Save to desktop
  3. Connect device to iTunes
  4. Hold shift and click on “Update” and select the iOS on your desktop

If it doesn’t work, connect to iTunes and click on “Restore” and your device will go back to iOS 7.

Facebook Home Review

Facebook Home is an Android launcher and lock screen replacement that turns your phone into a Facebook hub. I’ll start this review with the lock screen.

Lock Screen

In general, I think the lock screen of Facebook home is quite nice, but could use some improvements. The way the lock screen works is that you start out by seeing the time, date, and weather. From there, swiping down would either unlock the phone or prompt the unlock password if one is set. Swiping to the left would bring the camera. Swiping to the right would load your news feed for Facebook, letting you like and comment on posts. The feature is nice, I like it a lot. What I don’t like about it though is that is someone gets a hold of your phone, they will be able to like and comment on your friends posts. So, while the lock screen is cool, you need to be extra careful that no one steals your phone.

Launcher

As for the launcher, it was OK nothing great in my opinion. They added a lot of Facebook features like instant status update buttons, but got rid of the widgets. The home screen is just a list of apps, which I am not a huge fan of. Other than that there is nothing else

Conclusion

It was nice to see Facebook make a lock screen replacement and launcher for Android, but with privacy concerns of the lock screen and the lack of customization of the launcher, I think I will be sticking with my default launcher and lock screen instead.

How to make Google Chrome New Tab Page look like iOS 7

Normal Chrome New Tab page

Normal Chrome New Tab page

If you use Google Chrome, you are most likely to be familiar with the new tab page. Every time you open a new tab, a list of your chrome apps appear. Although, this look may feel boring and old after a while. If you want to change it up, follow these steps to make the Chrome new tab page look like iOS 7’s home screen.

  • Open chrome and go to http://adf.ly/a9l9U (wait 5 sec and click on “skip ad”).
  • Download the extension
  • Open a new tab. Your new tab page now looks like iOS 7!

How to play GameBoy games on iOS 7 without jailbreaking

Want to play GameBoy games on your iOS 7 device on your iDevice? For that you’ll need to jailbreak your iDevice. But there is no jailbreak available yet for iOS 7. But now, there is an easy enough way to get a GameBoy emulator on your iOS 7 device without jailbreaking.

  • Step 1: Go to Settings -> General -> Date & Time. Turn off the “Set Automatically” function and change the date back to 2011.
  • Step 2: Open Safari and go to emu4ios.net
  • Step 3: Go to downloads and download GBA4iOS. You will see now that the application is installing on your home screen.
  • Step 4: Go to Safari and download GBA ROMs (I will not provide links to rom sites. Google is your friend. For legal information on roms, consider this site.)
  • Step 5: Once Safari downloads the file, select “open with GBA4iOS”
  • Done! Happy Gaming!
